Small Grant Scheme

For the 2019-20 academic year, we’ve been funded by the Scottish Government to run a small grant scheme to support those taking part in the Student Mental Health Agreement project. We will be offering 10 institutions in Scotland (FE or HE) a maximum of £250 each!

This money aims to challenge potential financial barriers which might prevent those taking part in the Student Mental Health Agreement project from meeting their working areas.

We hope the Small Grant Scheme will help institutions get an idea started. It allows them to trial the idea before committing additional resource(s) to it. Overall, we hope it will allow really great initiatives to flourish. We will be asking for feedback at each stage of the process, and looking to collect case studies on the projects funded and applied for. We want to pull learning into a resource which illustrates what has worked before and how you are successful, so that we might share that to encourage others to submit ideas.

We want to support your ingenuity; is it a project? A campaign? An event?

We are happy to fund all – or part of – your great idea, and applications will not be means tested. However, your proposal must support one of your working areas on your Student Mental Health Agreement. (If you aren’t sure what might be on your Student Mental Health Agreement, this is a great opportunity to find out!)

The application form will go live on our website on October 1st. We’ve tried to make this process as simple as possible: there’s only eight questions, and we absolutely welcome bullet points in your answers!

The application form will close on November 1st.

Applications will be judged by a small panel formed of Think Positive team members, NUS Scotland staff and members of Think Positive’s Project Advisory Group. We want the application process to feel useful to you; be that because it allows you to map your great idea from start to finish, or through carefully considered feedback offered on your application.

Those who’s applications have been chosen will be announced on November 22nd via email. The grant will be transferred into a bank account associated with either your institution or your students’ association, on receipt of an invoice from you.

We want to support you and fund big change.

If you’d like to discuss an idea further, we’d be delighted to chat with you.
