Earlier this year chemistry student Caitlin completed a training course in Scottish Mental Health First Aid training through her voluntary role with See Me.
Caitilin is currently taking a year out from university to recover from an injury and to better manage her own mental health. After Caitlin’s injury affected her attendance, she found that there was very little support for her mental health at university. Realising that it would be difficult to complete her course work and maintain good mental health Caitlin has made the decision to go back next year when she feels more resilient.
Caitlin has since begun volunteering with SeeMe Scotland and is committed to reducing the stigma around mental illness and the promotion of positive mental health. The volunteer role with SeeMe Scotland brought the opportunity to complete the 12 hour SMHFA training course and Caitlin hopes to become a Mental Health First Aid Trainer to work with young people in schools.
